Taxonomy Identification: Family Lycaenidae. Named by Hewitson in 1869
Colour: Colouration topside (recto) male is black with blue and white patches. Female lacks the blue. The underside (verso) hind-wings are intricately striped with black and on a base of pale orange-brown.
Size: Wingspan 50-60mm
Comments & Applications: A most beautiful butterfly from the Afrotropical region. Commonly called the large tiger blue butterfly. Rarely offered for sale, collectable and ideal for trade applications creating unique one off pieces.
