Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, First named by Cramer in 1777

Colour: Topside (recto) wings dark brown with white spots, outer edge cream in males, females absent. Wings of box sexes have twin rows of pearly white spots. Underside (Verso) similar but paler. Extremely variable between specimens.

Size: Wingspan 70-85mm
