Taxonomy Identification: Family Danaidae, first named by Blanchard in 1853
Colour: The topside (recto) forewings are semi-transparent bordered in black. The hind-wings have vivid yellow streaks. Variable between sub-species some display more yellow. The underside (verso) is similar.
Size: Wingspan 80-90mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful butterfly commonly called the Blanchard’s Wood Nymph. A nice collectors species also perfect for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
