Insect degreasing fluid

Description

Some insects are prone to what is termed “greasing” – this is when stored fats leach into the insect body or wings causing a greasy appearance. Greasing often occurs in butterflies and moths, especially larger-bodied moths such as Saturniidae. At first glance, a greasy butterfly might seem irreparable, but through brush cleaning or bathing in acetone fluid, the grease can be removed. To understand this process better see the following Youtube posts on Butterfly degreasing and Moth degreasing.

We supply degreasing fluid in both 30ml bottles with dropper and screw lid 100ml bottles.

Degreasing Fluid: Please be aware that acetone is highly flammable and carries a strong odour and must be used with caution. Acetone can melt certain plastics.
