Taxonomy Identification: Family Pieridae, First named by Linnaeus in 1764
Colour: The colouration of this butterfly is variable between wet and dry seasons. Males are yellow with orange tips and brownish-black marginal border. The underside (verso) of the males vary between orange and pale yellow with various eye spots. The female topside (recto) is black with white patches, the underside is orange/yellow.
Size: Wingspan 50-65mm
