Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae. Named by Fabricius in 1777
Colour: Topside (recto) brown with orange patches, white bar and black eye markings. The underside (verso) hind-wings are a mixture of browns, Indonesian species have a vivid outer row of blue/black eye markings.
Size: Wingspan 50-55mm
Comments & Applications: A seldom offered butterfly from the oriental region. Commonly called the Meadow Argus butterfly. Not often offered for sale, collectable and ideal for trade applications creating unique one off pieces.
