Taxonomy Identification: Family Pieridae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Topside (recto) forewings white with greyish wing tips, less prominent in the female. Hind-wings white with pale grey markings. Underside (verso) similar but with paler forewings and darker hind-wings.
Size: Wingspan 36-42mm
Comments & Applications: Widespread across Europe mainly isolated in Britain to the south of England and Wales. A dainty white butterfly, slow flying rare in England, seldom offered for sale.
