Description
Taxonomy Identification: Arachnidae, First named by Simon in 1877
Colour: Overall colour brownish orange.
Size: Length from end of abdomen to the tip of jaws variable from 20-35mm
Comments & Applications: Amazing trap door spiders; They live in burrows in earthen banks with a thin, circular, woven door, which is disguised with soil and moss. While they spend the day deep inside their burrows, at night they wait ready to pounce just below the door for insects, woodlice, and similar invertebrates that stumble over one of the seven silken threads that radiate from the entrance.
This is small but amazing arachnid and very rarely offered for sale. Perfect for the connoisseur collector or high end bespoke applications, or closeup photography.
Format: Unmounted, papered, requires relaxing and setting.
