Taxonomy Identification: Family Papilionidae was first named by Fabricius in 1793
Colour: The topside (recto) of the forewings are black with pale markings between the veins. Two-thirds of the cell of the hindwing is white with a row of white spots around it. The underside is similar but paler.
Size: Wingspan 100-120mm
Comments & Applications: An absolutely stunning butterfly with long narrow wings and a characteristic spatulate tail, which gives it its common name; the “Clubtail”. Always a popular species among the art and design industry. Perfect subject for butterfly framing, domes and science applications.
Format: Unmounted, papered, requires relaxing and setting
