Taxonomy Identification: Family Uraniidae. Named by Linnaeus in 1758

Colour: Overall colour brown with prominent white line running across all four forewings and white lined tails to the hind-wings.

Size: Wingspan 130-150mm.

Comments & Applications:  Huge tropical swallow tailed moth, active during the day and night, easily mistaken for a butterfly. Always popular among collectors and artists alike for its showy size, colouration and wing shape. Commonly known as the Giant Swallowtail or Bat Moth.
