Description
Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, Satyrinae – First named by Linnaeus, in 1758.
Colour: Topside (recto) dark brown, with a black eye-like marking on forewing containing two white spots. An orange patch runs alongside the eye-spot. Hindwing has smaller black spots with white centres. The (verso) undersides is pale grey-brown with intricate patterns EXTREMELY VARIABLE forms.
Size: Wingspan 60-70mm
