Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae. First named by Oberthür in 1909
Colour: The topside (recto) wings on both sexes are orange, with various patterns and rows of black spots and bars. The underside (verso) forewings similar to topside, verso hind-wings a mixture of cream, white and reddish spots.
Size: Wingspan 32-36 mm
Comments & Applications: A rare species found in high altitude mountains across south-western Europe and North Africa. One for the serious reference collector.
