Taxonomy Identification: Family Morphini, First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Topside (recto) black with a wide iridescent blue bar across wings. Underside (verso) brown with large eye markings and various lines and patterns. The female has a broader black margin.
Size: Wingspan 110-120+mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful Morpho butterfly much used by the art and craft industry. Ethically sourced from our Peruvian breeders. Perfect for closeup photography, framing, domes, interior design, film and educational purposes.
NOTE: The abdomen on most Morpho species is removed to avoid grease leaching into the wings and causing discolouration. Abdomens when removed are normally discarded.
