Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, Named by Doyère in 1840
Colour: Colouration topside (recto) black with brilliant blue-mauve streaks. The underside (verso) hind-wings are brown with black and white patches on forewing.
Size: Wingspan 55-65mm
Comments & Applications: A most beautiful butterfly from the Neotropical region. Commonly called the Mexican bluewing. Rarely offered for sale, collectable and ideal for trade applications creating unique one off pieces.
