Taxonomy Identification: Family Arachnidae. Named by Doleschall, 1859.
Colour: The legs of this spider are reddish brown with black joints. The carapace and abdomen are generally black, hence its common name the “Black Orb”.
Size: Overall length of papered spiders, measuring from tip of front leg to the tip of the hind leg: 170-190mm. Specimens are supplied on a card base.
