Description

Taxonomy Identification: Family Odonota, first named by Rambur in 1842

Colour: The head is brown with a ruddy-red thorax and abdomen. There is a central clouded buff patch on the wings with black dashes on wing tips. Note: Dead specimens fade rapidly and bright colours are replaced by a standard brown/black.

Size: Wingspan 50-55mm

Important note before purchase: Dragonflies are very fragile insects. During the drying process legs, head and abdomens become very brittle. Body parts are prone to separate especially during the rehydration process. This is a common issue which necessitates various degrees of repair. We recommend PVA glue for repair. In some cases, a nylon rod is pushed through the thorax down into the abdomen to help secure the insect.
