Taxonomy Identification: Family Lucanidae. Named by Hope & Westwood in 1845
Colour: Jet black with brown eyes.
Size: Length measuring from tip of jaw to the end of abdomen, but excluding legs and antenna: 75-85mm. Specimens are supplied on a card base.
Comments & Applications: This is a seldom offered Stag beetle from the Mentawai Islands off the coast of Sumatra. These examples have huge jaws with a second spike absent in sub-species from other locations.
