Taxonomy Identification: Family Lucanidae, first named by Heller in 1898
Colour: Jaws, head, prothorax and legs black. Elytra brown with thin black central line, absent in some examples.
Size: Length of beetle measuring from tip of jaw to the end of abdomen is 40-45+mm (excludes legs and antenna).
