Taxonomy Identification: Family Lucanidae, First named by Hope & Westwood in 1845

Colour: Head, prothorax, elytra and legs jet black.

Size: Length from end of jaw/horn to end of the abdomen but excluding legs 55-60+mm

Comments & Applications:  A large impressive stage beetle – scarcely offered for sale. Popular subject among artwork, photography, framing, interior design, film, entertainment or educational purposes
