Taxonomy Identification: Family Lucanidae, first named by Thompson in 1862
Colour: Jaws, head, prothorax, and elytra black. Some examples have light brown margin to elytra.
Size: Length of beetle measuring from tip of jaw to the end of abdomen is 50-55+mm (excludes legs and antenna).
