Taxonomy Identification: Family Scarabaeidae, First named by Castelnau in 1840
Colour: Head, prothorax and elytra dark green. Legs blackish green
Size: Length from end of jaw/horn to end of the abdomen but excluding legs 15-23mm
Comments & Applications: A small but spectacular scarab/dung beetle. Males have a curious ringed “halo” with a central flat horn. Seldom offered for sale. A nice subject for artwork, photography, framing, interior design, film, entertainment or educational purposes
