Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Topside (recto) black wings with white patches and hint of blue. The underside (verso) is similar, but the white is partially greenish.
Size: Wingspan 40-45mm
Comments & Applications: A delicate species with lovely patterns. English common name: Cape York aeroplane or black-eyed plane butterfly. A nice collectors species. Useful in science, education, butterfly framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film applications.
