Taxonomy Identification: Family Papilionidae, first named by Westwood in 1842
Colour: Topside (recto) wings are black with golden-green scales, not well defined. Hindwing black covered in golden green scales with a vivid blue patch and claret-red lunules terminating with a black-centred red ocellus. Underside (verso) black, forewings variable shades of white covering, hindwings black with broad claret-red lunules.
Size: Wingspan 90-115mm
Comments & Applications: A spectacular swallowtail extremely difficult to obtain, commonly called the Blue Peacock, eye catching vivid blue patch with claret red. One for the connoisseur collector, also useful in high end bespoke application.
