Taxonomy Identification: Family Papilionidae. First named by DeWitz in 1881
Colour: The topside (recto) wings are black with yellowish bars on all four wings. Underside wings are similar to topside but with a complex mixture of additional patterns and reddish-brown colouration.
Size: Wingspan 80-100mm
Comments & Applications: A most beautiful black and cream-yellow swallowtail from Subsaharan Africa. Very similar to Papilio gallienus. Never available in large numbers, often used in wall hangings, frames, domes and a lovely collectors species.
