Taxonomy Identification: Family Papilionidae, First named by Felder in 1860
Colour MALE: Topside (recto) black with white bars. The underside (verso) is black with a row of pale, reddish bars and faint blue patches.
Colour FEMALE: Topside (recto) black with large white patches. The hindwings have a reddish row with blue spots.
Size: Wingspan 110-130mm
Comments & Applications: A rare Papilio isolated to the Moluccas islands. A sought after collectors species. Also useful in science, education, butterfly framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film applications.
