Taxonomy Identification: Family Papilionidae. First named by Fabricius in 1775
Colour: The topside (recto) wings are black with white bar across all four wings. Underside wings are similar to topside but with a complex mixture of additional patterns and reddish-brown colouration.
Size: Wingspan 90-100mm
Comments & Applications: A most beautiful black and white swallowtail from subsaharan Africa. Commonly called the Volta Swallowtail. Never available in large numbers, often used in wall hangings, frames, domes and a lovely collectors species.
