Taxonomy Identification: Family Papilionidae, Named by Boisduval in 1836
Colour: Colouration topside (recto) velvet black with a green and occasionally cream patch on the forewing and triple pink lines. The underside (verso) hind-wings are similar but with white borders. Highly variable.
Size: Wingspan 70-90mm
Comments & Applications: A most beautiful butterfly from the Neotropical region. Commonly called the Variable Cattleheart. A collectable species and ideal for trade applications creating unique one off pieces.
