Taxonomy Identification: Papilionidae, Named by Leech in 1893
Colour: A overall off-white / cream butterfly with silvery hue. Outer margins are patterned black with central black spots and distinctive red eye markings on the hind-wing with additional blue spot on the hind wings. The female is similar but normally darker.
Size: Wingspan 60-75mm
Comments & Applications: A super rare and stunning “Apollo” Butterfly from China. This species is limited to the high altitude regions of Tibet and West China and is an incredible addition to any serious collection and not often offered for sale. A useful species for high end framing where uniqueness is key. Always popular among entomology artist and for photography.
