Taxonomy Identification: Papilionidae, Named by Grum-Grshimailo in 1891
Colour: A overall off-white butterfly with silvery hue. Outer margins are patterned black with central black spots and distinctive red eye markings on the hind-wing. The female is similar but normally darker.
Size: Wingspan 50-60mm
Comments & Applications: A rare and stunning “Apollo” Butterfly from China. This species is distributed across the Urals into southern Siberia, Mongolia, China and Korea. A polytypic species displaying a lot of colour forms over its wide range. This is an incredible addition to any serious collection and not often offered for sale. A useful species for high end framing where uniqueness is key. Always popular among entomology artist and for photography.
