Taxonomy Identification: Family Papilionidae, first named by Drury in 1775
Colour: (Topside) Wings have a base colour of black with white blotches and crimson on the hind wing, duller in the female. Underside similar but paler white.
Size: Wingspan 120-140mm
Comments & Applications: A huge swallowtail butterfly endemic to Madagascar. Beautiful fresh captive-bred examples. A popular butterfly for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design, and film.
