Taxonomy Identification: Family Pieridae, first named by Cramer in 1777
Colour: Topside (recto) Male: inner half of wings yellow, while the outer half in a cream-white. The females are lighter yellow to greenish-white with black borders. The underside (verso) is pale greenish yellow with a pale brown line and patterns. The underside of the female has additional pink to purple-brown spots.
Size: Wingspan 60-80mm
Comments & Applications: Commonly known as the Statira Sulphur butterfly. Quite recently the taxonomy has changed from Phoebis to Aphrissa. This bright coloured species is always popular for use in frames, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
