Taxonomy Identification: Family Pieridae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: The topside (recto) of the male is pale white with black tipped forewings, the female is also white but with extra black spots on forewing. Hind-wings of both sexes yellowish-white. The underside (verso) of both sexes is similar white forewings with greenish yellow hind-wings.
Size: Wingspan 55-68mm
Comments & Applications: A common species throughout its range, a pest of brassicae plant species. Commonly known as the Large or Cabbage White butterfly.
