Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, First named by Vollenhoven in 1861.
Colour: Topside (recto) dark brown almost black butterfly with concave forewings decorated with black/brown lilac blue and white. Hind-wings have double tails with a mustard yellow spot.
Size: Wingspan 75-90mm
