Description

Taxonomy Identification: Family Nymphalidae, first named by Cramer in 1779.

Colour: The topside (recto) wings are blackish-brown with pale green semi-transparent markings, and row of reddish spots on hindwing. The underside (verso) of the wings is similar but with extensive black spots and black/white marginal dashes.

Size: Wingspan 55-65mm

Comments & Applications: An medium sized attractive green acrea butterfly from Subsaharan Africa, commonly known Green False Acrea. One of the more unusual species,  popular butterfly for framing, domes, artwork, photography, interior design and film.
