Taxonomy Identification: Family Fulgoridae, First named by Nagai & Porion in 2004
Colour: Forewing is dark red bar ending in a golden grown tip. Hindwing is mainly red ending in pale brown.
Size: Wingspan 40-50+ mm
Comments & Applications: A relatively recent discovery from Pelang Island in Java. Commonly known as the blood red lantern fly or plant hopper. Curious elongated snout, variable in length. This lantern fly’s colours make it especially popular among the art and craft industry, photography, framing, interior design, film, entertainment and educational purposes
