Taxonomy Identification: Family Orthoptera, sub-family Tettigoniidae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758.
Colour: The body and legs of this insect are brown. The forewings are patterned in a bark like design, brown in colour. The hindwings are partly transparent overlaid with darker lines and patterns.
Size: Wingspan varies from 115-120. Specimens are supplied on a card base with wings spread.
Comments & Applications: This is a large bush cricket / Katydid from Asia. Commonly known as the Bark Katydid due to its colouration and appearance. This species is seldom offered for sale making it one of the more unusual species available. Like its counterparts this species is ideal for the arts and design industry.
