Taxonomy Identification: Family Saturniidae. First named by Hogue & Johnson, 1958
Colour: The topside (recto) forewings orange brown, hindwings orange all four wings have black eye spots with white centre. Underside wings (verso) similar but paler.
Size: Wingspan 65-85mm
Comments & Applications: This is a rare and beautiful silk-moth distributed across the southern United Sates into Mexico. Commonly called ‘Walter’s silkmoth’ – One for the collectors and useful for the trade alike.
Captive bred – available seasonally in limited numbers
