Taxonomy Identification: Family Lycaenidae. First identified by Rothschilds in 1915
Colour: Topside (recto) wings are purple-blue. Underside wings (verso) are silvery white with various brown dashes and black spots along wing margin.
Size: Wingspan 25-30mm
Comments & Applications: A small delicate grass blue species, seldom offered for sale, one for the serious collector. Dried butterflies make the perfect subject for school science projects. Also framing, domes photography, interior design and film applications.
Note: Small Lycaenidae butterflies are notoriously difficult to set due to their delicate nature, not recommended for beginners.
