Taxonomy Identification: Family, Orthoptera > Acrididae. First named by Burmeister in 1838
Colour: The head and thorax is green with darker black stripes on the female, absent or very light in the male. The forewing is green and brown with darker black mottling. The hindwing is semi-transparent coloured a cloudy brown with black veins. Toward the centre of the hindwings is a pale pink blush area. The abdomen is brown with a reddish pink bar on the first abdominal segment.
Size: Length measuring from tip of head to end of abdomen but the excluding legs: Male 48+mm, female 58+mm. Wingspan Male 98+mm Female 130+mm
