Description
Taxonomy Identification: Family Uraniidae, First named by Drury in 1773
Colour: Topside (recto) base colour black with iridescent green stripes and bars, hindwings have a large patch of copper-burnt orange, hints of pink. Underside (verso) very similar. Incredibly the iridescent parts of the wings do not have pigment; rather the colours originate from optical interference.
