Taxonomy Identification: Family Curculionidae, tribe Attelabidae. First named by Jekel in 1860
Colour: Black with reddish-brown elytra.
Size: Length from tip of snout to end of abdomen Male 15mm, Female 13mm – excludes legs and antenna
Comments & Applications: This species is known as the “Giraffe” beetle because of its bizarre elongated neck. The male’s necks is longer than the female.
