Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Esper in 1789.
Colour: Forewings light yellowish ochreous flushed with rufous, with a black streak and series of black spots. Hind-wings white to grey-white.
Size: Wingspan 33-42 mm
Comments & Applications: A scarce British species isolated to the coasts of southern England, Kent, East Anglia and south Wales, inhabiting fens, marshes and brackish ditches. Seldom offered for sale, a connoisseur species.
