Taxonomy Identification: Family Erebidae, Lymantriinae. First named by Müller in 1764
Colour: Silky satin white with distinctive black V shape on forewing.
Size: Wingspan Male 38-45 mm – Female 45-55 mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful species, sadly no longer resident in Britain, this rare immigrant species from continental Europe temporarily established itself on the coast of Essex from 1947 to 1960, but thereafter disappeared.
