Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Hübner in 1803.
Colour: Forewings very smooth, pale ochreous, becoming pale brownish red toward wing tips. Hindwings dark grey.
Size: Wingspan 30-36 mm
Comments & Applications: A very local species, restricted to Southern counties of England, and North in Lancashire & Cumbria. Seldom offered for sale, a connoisseur species.
