Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Tauscher in 1806.
Colour: Forewings variable, standard colour pale brown with white hindwings; aberration nigristriata more typically grey while aberration wismariensis has two large black spots on the forewing.
Size: Wingspan 24-36 mm
Comments & Applications: A scarce species, with a scattered distribution in the south and south-east of England, with isolated colonies elsewhere in Britain. Seldom offered for sale, a connoisseur species.
