Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Haworth in 1809.
Colour: Extremely variable species, ranging from pale buff to deep reddish-brown. Hind-wings vary from grey to white.
Size: Wingspan 23-29 mm
Comments & Applications: A widespread but local species inhabiting marshy areas, wet heathland and other damp localities. Pale forms very similar to Photedes extrema.
