Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Haworth 1809.
Colour: Forewings rufous brown, female much paler. Hindwings pale greyish-white.
Size: Wingspan 22-25 mm
Comments & Applications: A very scarce species, locally confined to southern England, and sporadically distributed elsewhere to southern Scotland, inhabiting fens, marshes and bogs. Seldom offered for sale, a connoisseur species.
