Taxonomy Identification: Family Geometridae, first named by Hubner in 1799
Colour: Forewings reddish clay-brown, hindwings paler all with three cross-lines the central of which is the strongest. Some examples pinkish; highly variable.
Size: Wingspan 24-34 mm
Comments & Applications: Relatively common, distributed in the south of Britain occupying a wide range of habitats. Ideal entry level species for Entomological reference collections, education, film, media, artistry and interior design
