Taxonomy Identification: Family Endromidae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Sexually dimorphic. Male forewing dark brown with intricate patterns and black/white markings. Hind-wing a golden orange-brown with darker markings. Female much larger. Forewings pale brown with similar patterns as male. Hind-wing whiteish brown.
Size: Wingspan 50-70 mm
Comments & Applications: A once common species now absent from Kent and other old haunts. Found in the UK only in and around Inverness, Aberdeen, Moray and other parts of Scotland.
Perfect if you are starting your own British Moth reference collection. Also useful in education, film, media, artistry and interior design, craft frames and domes.
