Taxonomy Identification: Family Geometridae. First named by Stephens in 1831
Colour: Forewings barred in ochre, black and browns with hints of cream. Hindwings grey.
Size: Wingspan 16-22 mm
Comments & Applications: Distributed widely over most of Britain, inhabiting woodland, parks and gardens, following the larval food plant foxglove. The size of this pug moth makes this species difficult to set and prepare – we have some nice examples for your Entomological reference collection; ideal for education, scientific projects or art, photography.
